BIG RAPIDS – The trip to Florida is annually an important one for Ferris. This is the case in spite of the misguided who might view it as just “spring training” or “warm-up” games prior to the start of “the real season” back home in Michigan.
This year’s Florida trip has the Bulldogs playing several regional opponents in games that will matter big time at the end of the season. Ferris started their stay at the Rebel Spring Games with wins over Northern Kentucky and Quincy – both regional opponents. Those represent two big wins for Ferris. The Bulldogs bested Northern Kentucky 5-2 and then topped Quincy 4-2.
Coming up, in contests yet to be played at the Rebel Spring Games, the Bulldogs have games against Southern Indiana and Indianapolis (both on Monday) and a rematch with Northern Kentucky (March 12).
All games are important, but Ferris wants to be at its particular best and sharpest in the games against regional opponents.
With a veteran lineup, expect Ferris to be ready to perform at a high level from the start in these important games and to perhaps be ahead of some of their opponents. Ferris has a veteran team that has built chemistry over the last couple of seasons and that pays off in softball.
