BIG RAPIDS – With six games on the road last week, Ferris figured to have a challenge last week. In the end, however, Ferris emerged with a 4-2 record – including a split Saturday at Tiffin and a split on Sunday at Ashland.

Ferris, ranked sixth in the nation in Division II softball, had some highs and lows during the four games in Ohio against Tiffin and Ashland. On Sunday, the Bulldogs won the first game against the Eagles by a score of 4-0, but then fell by a 2-0 count in the nightcap. Against Tiffin, Ferris fell 2-0 in game one, but won game two, 16-2, in five innings. It was a feast-or-famine offensive day.

This week, Ferris is scheduled to close the regular season as it hosts Lake Superior State on Wednesday (April 22) starting at 3:30 p.m. From there, Ferris ends the regular season over the weekend as it hosts Saginaw Valley State on Saturday at 1 p.m. and Wayne State at noon in the regular-season finale at the FSU Softball Field on Sunday.

So, this is an enormous week for the Bulldogs who would love to finish the regular season atop the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference standings.

One bit of good news for the Bulldogs was the return of Krystle Bailey. The senior catcher had a nasty injury to her finger during a play at home against Northwood. She returned to her familiar position behind the dish and had a solid weekend.

Ferris is now 30-6 overall and 16-4 in the GLIAC.
