First Post: Entry Draft!

Montreal - 2009 NHL Entry Draft
This is not the most recent post | GO TO NEXT POST | NEWEST POST

What better time to make a first post on a hockey blog, than the early morning hours of an entry draft? Originally I thought about doing a mock draft, but the way things are shaping up this year - lots of high-calibre UFAs and lots of trade talk surrounding first round picks - it's anyone's guess as to what order teams will be picking in [...]

So instead, I'll list prospects in the order I think they will make the biggest impact on the NHL. I don't think this will be the order these players will actually be picked, because so many things figure into drafting a player and so many teams have very different agendas. Also, my order differs greatly in some places than those of both NHL Central Scouting, and the ISS (International Scouting Services). I don't care. I'm not trying to emulate others, and I have the opinion that some highly rated players will end up being busts.

So, without further ado, here's the list:

John Tavares F
Matt Duchene F
Evander Kane F
Victor Hedman D
Brayden Schenn F
Tomas Tatar F
Chris Kreider F
Ryan Ellis D
Nazem Kadri F
Scott Glennie F
Olivier Roy G
Mikko Koskinen G
Jordan Schroeder F
Zach Kassian F
Dmitry Kulikov D
John Moore D
Jared Cowen D
Simon Despres D
Carter Ashton F
Karl Klingberg F
Magnus Paajarvi-Svensson F

Only time will tell!
