Flipping the script, Two 3rd period goals leads BU past Providence

In a game full of questionable calls, last nigh Providence played spoiler to the Terrier two game win streak. BU was up 4-3 in the third when the refs started calling every little thing on both teams. it got to the point that Bu was on the PK for almost the entire third frame. PC got a 5-3 power play and when up 5-4, the final score. After the game Parker delivered his shortest press conference ever saying just “The story of that game was 12-6. That’s all I gotta say, boys.”

Tonight was a different story as BU came back to beat the Friars in the second to last home game of the regular season at Agganis Arena. PC goalie Alex Beaudry stopped 39 shots but he needed to make two more.

“I thought it was a great college hockey game and I would have been disappointed if we didn’t win because we played so great with 41 shots,” said BU coach Jack Parker. “I was really proud of how poised they kept it because the pressure was all on us. We had to win this game tonight to stay in the hunt for home ice and to feel good about ourselves.”

Both teams struggled through the opening frame and nether team could get on the board. The Terrier did manage 15 shots on goal, only setting the pase for the remainder of the game.

PC only had six shot on Millan in the first and they only needed one in the second as Mark Fayne took one hell of a rocket that Millan never saw. The goal came less then one minute in to the second. The Friars survived the period, despite having to kill off a BU 5-3 power play.

In the third the Terrier broke out. Andrew Glass scored his first goal of the season to give BU their first goal in over 46 minutes of play (including friday). Glass scored off his own rebound, he took a shot the Beaudry was able to kick away. The puck re-found Glass's stick and he found the back of the net.

With just less then six minutest left in the game BU took their first lead over PC since March of 2009. Max Nicastro was able to tea up a slaper that Zach Cohen tipped it in. It gave him his 12th goal of the season and more importantly gave BU the lead. “

"I try as much as possible to get in front of the net, and if I get a stick on it I get a stick on it, but mostly I’m just trying to get in front of the goalie,” said Cohen. “It was a nice play by Max (Nicastro) to find me. I was a little off tonight and wasn’t really in front, but I got a stick on it and it went in.”

The Terrier would hold on to the lead and win the game. With the win the move into fourth place, for now, which gives them a home ice in the Hockey East Playoffs. Northeastern plays Boston College tomorrow. BU is one point ahead of NU and only two points behind BC who is in second place. this is hard but I think I want BC to win this game.
