Union Hockey Featured in 1977 Sports Illustrated

Ned Harkness

I received a link to this archived Sports Illustrated article from Christopher M. Caruso, who is the Director of Marketing for Prozone Lockers Inc. (the company that built the Union locker room).

The article is about the foundations of the Union Hockey program in the mid-1970s and the leadership of legendary coach Ned Harkness. It's a really good read and really gives us good insight to the creation of the program. If you are Union Hockey die hard this is a must read.

Pat Putnam's article entitled "No Heels In The Achilles," begins with a subtitle that says "Union College didn't have team, a schedule or even any ice when Coach Ned Harkness arrived, but now it battles the best on even terms in the Achilles Arena."
