BU Falls 5-4 in Consol Game

It's the worst Beanpot for BU since 1980. That was the last year they failed to win a game in the tournament. In the '80 pot, all the teams best players were in Lake Placid beating the Soviets and not NU, Harvard, or BC. This year, the team has no excuse for what happened these past two Mondays. Yes, BU came up on the short end of the stick in a game they should have won against #1 BC, but tonight was just terrible.

After BU grabbed a 1-0 on a power play goal from Alex Chiasson, Harvard preceded to score three goals in 1:13 in the second period. One was shorthanded from Alex Killlorn, the other two were even strength, scored by Ryan Grimshaw and then Killorn again.

Then towards the middle of the frame, BU started their comeback. Garrett Noonan scored his second goal in as many games at the 12:24 mark of the second, a power play goal. Then a little over 30 seconds later, Adam Clendening found the back of the twine to tie the game.

Moving to the third. BU took the lead at the 14:05 on Chiasson's second of the game from Warsofsky and Nieto. About a minute later, Harvard re-tied the game on Danny Biega's goal at 15:57.  With 2:08 remaining, Michael Del Mauro potted the game winner and put the dagger in the heart of the Terriers.

After the loss, BU fell into a tie for 17th in the Pair Wise with Colorado College. As it stands, at the present time, BU would have to win the Hockey East tourney to be granted an "at large bid" into the NCAA playoffs.
