Big Rapids spotted the third ranked team in division 2 hockey a quick 3 goal advantage in the first period but fought back to be down 3-2 at the period break on goals by Bill Clark and Paul Goggins . Clark's goal came unassisted while Brandon Madaj and Jordan Defever assisted on the Goggin's goal. Big Rapids kept the pressure on late in the first period with some nice defensive efforts
